The Lace Guild is the largest lace organisation in the United Kingdom and is an accredited museum with a large collection of lace and associated artefacts. The Guild produces two quarterly magazines,  Lace and Early Days in Lacemaking, and publishes books of lace techniques and patterns. Our aims are to:

  • To provide information about the craft of lacemaking, its history and use.

  • To promote a high standard of lacemaking.

  • To encourage the design, development and professional presentation of lace.

HELP NEEDED AT MAKIT CHRISTMAS FAIR!

The Lace Guild Museum is putting on an Exhibition at the Makit Christmas Fair this Saturday (7th December). The theme is “Made In The Last 50 Years – From The Lace Guild Museum Collection".
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are short of people to help with stewarding the exhibition. We are asking if any members going to the Christmas Fair might be willing to give an hour of their time to help steward the exhibition – keeping an eye on the lace and talking to our visitors. One of the Museum Committee or one of the Trustees will be present to help answer any questions our visitors have
If you can help, please email Margaret at m.p.templey@btinternet.com, or make yourself known to the exhibition stewards on the day. Thank you!

A display of lace made by members of a local lace group has been part of our regular annual plan for our Hollies Exhibitions for many years now, and always of interest. This year we welcome the group Fenland Lacemakers from St. Ives, Cambs. for a display of their work.
